July 15, 2010 -  The Arduin Eternal Culture and Index book PDF 10 part download has been corrected. Several of the links were duplicates and they have been repaired to the correct links.

July 13, 2010 -  The Arduin Eternal Culture and Index book shipped Today. If you ordered this book from other retailers or stores and cannot get a free copy from them - contact us and we will send you a free copy of this index book (limited time, proof of purchase required).

In reference to the Monster book: We got a little carried away with content. Unbeknownst to everyone the content started to include all of the body parts a particular beast had that could be cultivated by the various professions. We are back tracking and eliminating this for a future product so we can get the basic monster and treasur ebook out. We do not have a date as of yet, though internally we would like to see it near completion by the end of July - it is the goal that we dont know if we can make or not. We are pleased to say that we have hired three more artists over the last several months and have them redoing as much of the monster pictures as we can to make the interior that much better. These artists are far superior to previous artists that we have used en mass.

July 10, 2010 -  The Arduin Eternal Culture and Index book is shipping Tuesday July 13, 2010. We are currently packing them for shipment. If you ordered this book from other retailers or stores - contact us and we will send you a free copy of this index book (limited time, proof of purchase required).

July 2, 2010 -  The Arduin Eternal Culture and Index book is currently being printed. As soon as the printed copies arrive we will ship them free of charge to everyone that has ordered a copy of Arduin Eternal. Although this book is 7x10 in size to be compatable with the Arduin Eternal size all future offerings are going to be 8 1x2 x 11 as we think this will slightly decrease the cost. We are still attempting to complete the Monster book for Arduin Eternal.

June 6, 2010

The Culture book has been uploaded as a free pdf download less the cover, just follow the link below to get all ten parts (it is in small sizes for quick downloading). The free replacemet books have mostly shipped to my knowledge; the only ones that did not ship are a few holdouts from stores or places such as amazon.com. The Culture book will be off to the printer this week. Playtester versions of Arduin Eternal will be available only until June 2011.

We are still working on the Monster book, and this will become our primary focus now.

Announcement/Update: Arduin Eternal the Playtester Version order will ship by Tuesday May 18, 2010. If you are an eligible playtester and still want to order a copy of the playtester version there will be a delay in the shipping as we will not stock the playtester version as it is limited to 100 copies only and is a waste of company resources to keep on hand. In reference to the Arduin Eternal Culture and Index book, the interior is nearing comletion. We still have to get the cover together and do a couple of finishing touches on the interior. Once this is done the free pdf version of the Culture and Index book will become available and it will be sent to the printers.

Thank you,

Empcho

To date we have shipped many of the free replacemet books; they went via media mail for the most part. We have only completed about 60 percent of the free books as being shipped. There were a great deal more than we originally thought and had to order more books which are on the way to us now. The balance of the free books and all of the ordered playtest versions will ship within two weeks. The Culture book will be finished as far as layout and hoping to get a proof from the printer in the same 2 weeks. Below are links to the index for the FIRST EDITION only of the book that everyone currently has. The index is in two parts. Part one is the main index and part two is an index for the skills if one so chooses to use the skills in their game. The index will undoubtedly have some errors but here it is. We will attempt to get links up on the left / link area as soon as possible.

April 30, 2010

Announcement/Update: Arduin Eternal the Standard Version (second printing) has returned from the printers. We are going to attempt to fill as many orders/send out as many free replacement books that we possible can by monday. The playtester version proof has been approved and the printing is taking place currently. We expect to have and ship the playtester version in about two weeks, assuming they arrive on time.

To date some errata has been found that did not make the final cut, most of which can be found discussed on the www.arduin.com forums.

The Culture book with index will be about three more weeks of work due to personal scheduling for everyone at Empcho.

The First version that you currenly hold should have an index up within a week or so.

Thank you for the offers from some of you to help cover shipping costs etc, it is much appreciated, you know who you are!

Thank you,

Empcho

April 17, 2010

Announcement/Update: Arduin Eternal the second standard version (an update of the only version available) and the Playtester version is currently at the printers. We have approved the proof of both versions and the books are currently on order. The printing will take about 2-3 weeks as I understand it. We intend on ordering enough to fill a book for everyone that has a copy of the first standard edition. We at Empcho have mulled it over for quite some time and came to the conclusion that we will be sending everyone that has ordered a copy of the first standard version of Arduin Eternal (AE) a complimentary copy of the second standard version. This is a major undertaking by us and the errors we did in the first printing we did not take lightly, please accept our apology. This means we will NOT be charging the $35 that we thought we were going to do, the book will be sent Free of charge.

We are sorry for the delay and have included as much missing material that we knew of during the layout as we could. To date we have identified the majority of the purchasers for AE. There are a few persons that we have not identified that have purchased AE from other sources such as Amazon.com and other sources (most of these were identified). If you are one of these persons that does not get your free copy of the second version please email Empcho and have purchase confirmation sent to us so that we can get you a copy. Several reasons made us come to this conclusion, one such reason is that we will NOT be doing two versions of the Culture book. Since evryone will be getting the second version for free we will only complete one version of the Culture book. The Culture book will have the Cultures listed in the main book as well as the ones that were omitted for space reasons. No, we are sorry, "OZ" is not one of those cultures. The Culture book will also have an index of the second version of AE (which is nearly identical to the playtester version). This index will be available for FREE online as well once fully completed. We are currently finishing up the indexing for the Culture book and hope to have this done soon. Again, if you ordered the AE book, you will still get the Culture book. If you get free copy of the second version of AE from Empcho direct, then you will get a copy of the Culture book for free. In the future we hope to include the Culture book for free to everyone that orders direct from Empcho, if you order from an outside source such as Amazon.com we will not be able to fulfill such a deal.

In addition the Culture book with index stated above will still be a free pdf download available to anyone.

In reference to an index for the first version that you currenly hold: we will also post an index for this version so that you have that "extra" copy availble to others for your game.

Thank you,

Empcho

Announcement: What we perceive as a book that we can approve from the printer is roughly a month out - give or take a week. This is our best guess for the "play-tester" version of AE and the regular version.

We would just like everyone to know that Aruin Eternal (AE) is still available and all orders received prior to the new layout version will get the printed Culture book with index once it is printed.

The Culture book with index for the edition currently out is about the same time frame or less.

The Culture book with index stated above will be a free pdf download available to anyone as well as a printed version that will be given to everyone that has purchased AE to date.

Thank you

January 15, 2010

Announcement: Hello all, we acknowledge that there were a few problems with the Arduin Eternal release. We dont think they were all too serious or uncorrectabble. We will continue to post all errata on the website as free downloads. If you dont have access to printing just send us an email and we will glady print it up for you and send it out to you.

We have decided to relay out the Arduin Eternal book to fix some of the problems. We dont want to be perceived as a General Motors or Chrysler for sending out a product that needs to be fully tested by the consumer, this is why we want to make a rather special offer once the book is relayed out. Please keep in mind that we are just a small company attempting to keep Arduin alive and we decided that putting the book out as is was the best choice.

Once the book is relayed out (we are in the middle of it), we will offer a special price for the updated copy of Arduin Eternal for anyone that has ordered the first print run from us or any authorized reseller. More details to follow on this as we get near completion of the redo. This offer will be valid for anyone that is also purchasing the current edition as we will continue to sell the current edition until either stock levels are wiped out or the redo of the book comes out. I expect this offer to be about $35 which will include shipping. The company will take a bit of a bath on this but we want to show you that we want you to have the best version humanly possible at this time and dont want anyone to feel jilted.

The index for the current version is currently being compiled and will be available for free online. The redo version once completed will hopefully have an index, if it doesnt have an index this will have been due to space constraints and will be put into the "Culture" book for the newer version. The Culture book will be included free with all orders that are made directly and only on our web site. This will include all past non-store orders. In addition the Culture book will be available for sale as well through the usual places to buy including our site.

We are making the relaying out of the book our TOP priority and ALL other projects have been put on-hold until this happens. As far as the Bestiary and the Culture book, we consider this to be part of the same project and they will hopefully follow very quickly after the rulebook is redone.

Thank you

Arduin Eternal errata section updated.

December 19, 2009

All in house orders less store orders have officially shipped as of today for Arduin Eternal and anything else ordered. Still reference the play tester version of the book: it is still at the printer and will NOT ship until January 2010 as they simply are not that far along in the printing queue. Our best guess for shipping on the play tester version of AE from Emperors Choice is January 15, 2010.

December 18, 2009

Another shipment of books has arrived. We will be sending out all in house orders less store orders tomorrow for the Arduin Eternal book and anything else that was ordered with it. The play tester version of the book is still at the printer and will NOT ship until January 2010 as they simply are not that far along in the printing queue.

December 9, 2009

As a short answer to some questions, I wanted to post a bit on EPS.  I drafted an email earlier today as a response to some questions about giving out EPS.  Its presented below.  I also wanted to provide this short bit on EPS I posted around a year ago to the play testers.  I hope it will provide some greater clarity.  Click here  to jump to the other EPS discussion.

Giving more than 1 EPS per game session is discouraged. It can be done but only if the GM desires to accelerate characters in the game. The old equivalent of giving out experience awards based on individual action doesn't exist the same way in AE. Instead, a GM should give a skill advancement bonus, advancement bonus for the developmental aspect or save, give a social motif, or other in-game benefit.

An EPS award in the past would be given for smart playing, doing something inspired, or innovative/creative. A GM can still do so but I'd suggest providing bonuses as mentioned above instead.

Example: A character has a wonderful session where their role play is on the side of brilliant. Time and time again they "save" the party by employing their character's skills and abilities, a quick wit and witty repartee. First its when he outwitted the medusa, using a mix of charm and smarts (and skills, of course!) entrancing her with a strong Perform roll and not a little bit of player wit too! Next was when they came to town hauling in the medusa's loot, and a wagon full of statues. Swarmed by the town folk, the part stood on the edge of engaging them and harming some yet not desiring of giving them what they wanted, which was the loot they worked hard to liberate from the medusa. This is where the characters shines, and in a quick thinking dash of rapid fire dialogue (not too mention a few good rolls and a lucky string of critical successes), the character sways the townspeople to the party's side.

At the end of the night, the player has done well. A GM could give the player another EPS but it would be more appropriate to give them a one or more single use developmental advancement bonus for the skills employed. Better yet, the GM could give a massive bonus towards earning a social motif, such as Famous or even give them the social motif if the game play was good enough and appropriate. Even a permanent (suggest small) bonus or even a critical success bonus. Each of these types of rewards is more inline with the idea of game play than providing more EPS.
